Donations may be tax deductible to the extent permitted by law (consult your tax advisor).
Description of Funds
TGHS Endowment Fund
The endowment fund is a permanently held pool of gifts that provides ongoing financial help to TGHS and its preservation programs.
The Community Foundation of the Verdugos manages this endowment fund, investing monies for prudent growth. Each year, a percentage of the endowment is available for TGHS operations. Donors who contribute to the fund can be assured their gifts will live on in perpetuity, helping us focus on preserving Glendale's historical and architectural legacy.
Vrej Mardian Preservation Fund
The Vrej Mardian Preservation Fund is used exclusively to support TGHS’s preservation advocacy efforts, such as the creation of historic districts and the preparation of historic resource assessments to save significant properties from demolition or major alterations.
The Preservation Fund is named after former TGHS Treasurer Vrej Mardian, who served on the Board of Directors from 2012 until his untimely death on October 18, 2016. In addition to serving as Treasurer, Vrej was responsible for coordinating TGHS’s Speakers Bureau and was an active volunteer at many events, most notably the annual Home Tours. Prior to joining the Board, Vrej served on the City of Glendale's Historic Preservation Commission from 2005 to 2011, including two terms as Chair.
Vrej was a 40-year resident of Glendale. Having earned a B.A. in Architecture from Southern California Institute of Architecture, he was the president of a local design, planning and engineering firm, Mardian and Associates, Inc. Vrej had an abiding love for Glendale, a great appreciation for historic preservation, and a deep commitment to serve his community.
Executive Director Fund
Donations to this fund lay the groundwork for hiring a professional executive director for TGHS. As the Society has matured over the last 40 years, the executive director will provide consistency and create more opportunity for growth as we move forward with our Vision, Mission, and Values.
Founders Legacy Society
The Founders Legacy Society recognizes those special friends of TGHS who have created a legacy for the future of historic preservation in Glendale. Membership is open to all who make a provision to include TGHS in their wills or living trusts or with a contribution of a minimum of $5,000.
